My mobile iPhone setup
Finally - I’ve cobbled together a hands-free combination for my iPhone. I can charge, listen to my audio notes from the quickvoice app & iTunes while charging at the same time in a nice cradle [w/o a case] and take phone calls - all while driving.
First off, the iGrip Custom Fit Cigarette Lighter Mount ($19.95) mounts the iPhone through the cigarette lighter (why are automobile electrical charging ports still called cigrette lighters?). The iGrip plugs in and tightens with a left loosey righty tighty screwing method. This is not the best - as it is quite hard to get it tightened due to tight quarters in my Jeep. The flexible neck is very stiff and once you set it the weight of the iPhone will not bed it. Snap in your iPhone - sans case - and you’re set!
The TuneCast Auto with ClearScan ($79.99) is worth every penny. Plug this into your auxilary port, tune to a station that is not in use and you’re ready to jam out to some Jim Morrison - all while charging your device. Out here in the sticks - just about everywhere I drive from the coast to the mountains comes in crystal clear on just one channel. And it can pack a punch - I actually had the back glass vibrating to some Jack Johnson on my way home from work. To top it off, if you’re lost in the big city, turn on your GPS app and keep it on - it won’t suck your battery dry while in the car!
Finally, my cheap old Motorola H350 ($19.99) Bluetooth headset for taking phone calls. What can I say - it works
For around $120 I am getting everythng I want out of my iPhone in my old Jeep. It’s worth it.
What do you use, if anything?
